Developing and strengthening the capacities for the management of risks associated with land transport of chemical and biological materials in the North Africa and Sahel Region

On October 22 and 23, the SecTrans-NAS experts were on a mission to Rabat. On the program, presentation of the project to the stakeholders of the Transport of Hazardous Materials in Morocco, workshops on the legal framework, the development of traffic plans and the simulation exercises of a CBRN incident in transport.

Of all the countries participating in the project, Morocco is the only one belonging to both regional sets of the CBRN Centers of Excellence of the EU, namely, the African Atlantic Façade (AAF) and the North Africa and Sahel (NAS). It should also be noted that it participates in two similar projects of these centers, in particular 71_SecTrans-AAF_ and 72, SecTrans-NAS, which deal with the same theme.

This singularity thus marked these first exchanges between the European experts and the representatives of the various ministries and organizations met. Among other objectives, it was necessary to delimit the fields of action of each of the projects in order to avoid overlaps and especially to ensure that their actions are complementary and beneficial for the country.

The exchanges also made possible to clarify the missions of the 8 groups of SecTrans-NAS and opened, at the same time, ways of synergy between the mentioned projects as well as leads of work to deepen.

The Moroccan representatives came out satisfied with this contact and were available at any time, and for the future, to establish a close collaboration
